PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: 2026-10-31
This Privacy Policy describes how Shot a Thon (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our website and services. By using Shot a Thon, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, name, and authentication details when you sign up as an organizer or player.
- Team and player information: team name, province, season, player name, jersey number, position, bio, photos, and shot counts.
- Donation information: donor name, email, donation amount, message, and payment confirmation details processed by Stripe.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies used to keep you signed in and improve the service.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Shot a Thon platform.
- To process donations and distribute funds to teams.
- To display public fundraising pages, rosters, and progress.
- To communicate with organizers, players, and donors about their accounts or transactions.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Public vs. private information
Team pages, player profiles, and fundraising totals are publicly visible to help teams raise money. Donor names and messages are kept private and are not shown publicly; public donation displays appear as anonymous.
4. Payment processing
Donations are processed through Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers or banking details on our servers. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment information you submit during checkout.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the platform (such as Stripe for payments and our cloud hosting provider), and when required by law.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, process payments, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
7. Your rights
You may access, update, or delete your account and team information at any time through your dashboard. You may also contact us to request deletion of personal data, subject to legal and payment-processing requirements.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption, access controls, and row-level database protections, to safeguard your information.
9. Children’s privacy
Shot a Thon is intended for youth sports fundraising. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental consent. Player profiles should be managed by a parent, guardian, or team organizer.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date.
