TERMS OF SERVICE
Effective date: 2026-10-31
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Shot a Thon website and services. By creating an account, registering a team or player profile, or making a donation, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Overview of the service
Shot a Thon provides tools for youth hockey teams to run flat-donation fundraisers. Team managers create a team, invite players to register their own profiles, and share those profiles with family and friends to collect donations.
2. Eligibility
- Organizers must be authorized representatives of the team or organization they register.
- Players under 13 must have a parent or guardian manage their profile and registration.
- Donors must be able to use a valid payment method and authorize the charge.
3. Account responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering.
4. Fundraising and fees
- Donations are one-time flat amounts, not pledges per shot.
- Teams receive 80% of funds raised. The remaining 20% is retained by Shot a Thon as a platform fee.
- Teams must provide accurate payment details (e-transfer or mailing address for cheque) to receive their share.
- Payment processing is handled by Stripe, and Stripe fees may apply in addition to the platform share.
5. Prohibited use
- Using the platform for any illegal or fraudulent purpose.
- Impersonating another person, team, or organization.
- Posting false, misleading, harassing, defamatory, or inappropriate content.
- Attempting to interfere with the security or availability of the service.
6. Content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of photos, bios, and other content you upload. By uploading content, you grant Shot a Thon a license to display it on the platform for the purpose of operating your fundraiser. You must have the right to share any content you upload.
7. Donations and refunds
All donations are final and non-refundable unless required by law or at the sole discretion of Shot a Thon. Donors should verify the player and team before completing a donation.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if your use of the platform creates risk or legal exposure for us. You may delete your team or account at any time from your dashboard.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Shot a Thon is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
